Paul Singleton to join National Committee of the Compulsory Purchase Association

Paul Singleton, lead Director for Turley Associates' CPO and Land Assembly work, has been co-opted to join the National Committee of the Compulsory Purchase Association (CPA). This appointment has been made on the recommendation of the current Chair of the CPA, Philip Maude of Hammond's solicitors, in recognition of the current absence of any practising planning professional within the Committee membership.

Paul will take up this role from January to October 2011 when the next elections for Committee membership are due to take place. Paul will also join a CPA Working Party which is working with Bircham Dyson Bell, Solicitors and Parliamentary Agents, to put forward proposals for the reform of the law on the Planning Assumption underpinning the settlement of compensation claims following CPO action. The CPA is proposing to lobby the coalition government to bring about what it considers to be long overdue reform to this area of the law.

The CPA is an organisation created to bring together and channel the wealth of expertise in the subject of Compulsory Purchase and Compensation, to promote this important area of work and to foster a basis for best practice. In doing so it not only provides a sounding board for change in this sphere but makes comment and provides recommendations relating to relevant Law Commission, government department and other Reports and existing /proposed Legislation. As an important adjunct it promotes training initiatives together with opportunities for those in CPO professions to network and share experience and knowledge. It is a fully independent and self funded organisation.
