Visual impact assessment
Assessing the visual impact of a scheme
Our visual impact assessment (VIA) team provides an objective review of the landscape character and visual amenity of a site and its context. Our robust process identifies the potential visual effects of planning application proposals.
We follow the Landscape Institute and IEMA guidelines for preparing Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments. Based on best practice, our assessments are tailored to meet specific site circumstances and ensure that the effects of new development can be minimised. We ensure that mitigation proposals are designed into proposals at an early stage to maximise the prospects of success.
Our VIA services include:
- Appraisals of landscape character and visual amenity opportunities and constraints
- Baseline landscape character and/or visual impact assessments to inform development proposals
- Standalone landscape character and/or visual impact assessments to support application proposals
- Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments as part of Environmental Statements to support application proposals.
