Redevelopment of former shipyard and marina into high specification marina, bespoke hotel, residential, associated marina activities including chandlery, retail and commercial floorspace and pedestrian ferry.

Turley Associates’ Role:

  • Planning consultancy advice to client throughout this major project.
  • A number of sensitive issues to address including AONB, Coastal Preservation Area and land allocated as an employment zone
  • Submission of representations and attendance at the Examination into the South Hams Core Strategy to promote the site as an appropriate location for a mixed use development
  • Input into the masterplanning/architectural design process
  • Comprehensive pre-application consultation including negotiations with local planning authority, all key stakeholders and the local community
  • Preparation of Environmental Statement chapters
  • Preparation and submission of a detailed planning application package
  • Close co-ordination with client and being a key member of a professional team including architects, landscape architects, engineers and ecologists
  • Preparation of development framework and parameters
  • Detailed Urban Design advice and justification

  • The site's employment allocation successfully removed from the Core Strategy, enabling the site to be promoted as a marina-based, mixed use development
