Proposed redevelopment of the Grade II listed Shredded Wheat Factory site adjacent to Welwyn Garden City railway station, to provide mixed uses including residential development.

Turley Associates’ Role:

  • Advice on planning strategy and scheme content
  • Appraisal of historic building and urban design analysis to inform scheme design and quantum of development
  • Liaise closely with local planning authority and local and national interest groups including English Heritage
  • Consider wider land ownership issues and the site's role in a comprehensive development proposal for the Broadwater Road West Industrial Area
  • Preparation of planning and design statement to inform the development brief for the site
  • Project manage a feasibility exercise to understand the financial and physical implications of converting the buildings and the subsequent viability of introducing specific uses
  • Consider the opportunity for enabling development to allow the retention of buildings where re-use is not viable
