MARLBOROUGH GATE, KENSINGTON GARDENS
TRANSPORT FOR LONDON AND THE ROYAL PARKS AGENCY
Submission and successful resolution of planning permission, Listed Building Consent and Conservation Area Consent, for a transformer room, café and public convenience. This project concerned a joint venture between Transport for London and The Royal Parks Agency.
Turley Associates’ Role:
- Strategic Advice regarding preparation and co-ordination of the application package
- A number of sensitive issues to be achieved including Grade II* listed niche, Metropolitan Open Land, the Royal Parks Conservation Area, Tree Preservation Orders and adjacent Grade II listed Italian gardens and pump house
- Comprehensive pre-application consultation including briefings at ministerial level, CABE, English Heritage, the GLA, Councillors, local resident associations and a public exhibition
- Preparation and submission of a detailed application package including a planning statement and urban design analysis
- Working as a key member of a professional team including architects, engineers, ecologists, landscape architects
Results:
- No objections received to the proposal
- A ‘Major Application’ determined within 9 weeks at Committee
- The joint venture and design was commended by both the Mayor and Westminster City Council
