BOURNE HILL HOUSE,SALISBURY
SALISBURY DISTRICT COUNCIL
Partial demolition and extension to Bourne Hill House, a Grade 2* Listed Building, to create new Headquarters building for Salisbury District Council. Centralisation of seven offices onto one highly sustainable site with a new contemporary building of distinction and sensitivity.
Turley Associates’ Role:
- Co-ordination of multi-disciplinary professional team
- Identification and review of alternative sites
- Liaison with English Heritage, South West Design Review Panel and Salisbury District Council
- Preparation of planning and listed building applications, supporting information and studies and associated planning negotiations
- Lead negotiations with Salisbury District Council on Memorandum of Understanding (comparable to S106)
- Liaison with Government Office for the South West regarding Listed Building Approval
- Ongoing planning, urban design and masterplanning advice regarding disposal sites
Results:
- LPA resolution to grant planning permission subject to Memorandum of Understanding
- Listed Building Consent awaited from the Government Office for the South West
- £500,000 saving a year through centralised office
- A modern building that is elegant and pleasing in its own right but which respects the listed Georgian Council House and is appropriate for its setting
