Campus Masterplan
Advice on planning strategy and preparation of a masterplan for the future expansion of the University campus, including development in the green belt outside Ormskirk. The University is continuing to make substantial investments in new buildings, landscape and public realm and is seeking to accommodate significant expansion of its health, education and arts and science faculties, student facilitles and accommodation.
Turley Associates’ Role:
- Advice on planning strategy
- Representations to the West Lancashire Local Plan
- Appearance at Local Plan Inquiry
- Submission of infill development planning applications
- Liaison with the Local Planning Authority and Government Office
- Campus baseline review including urban design analysis, property condition and user requirements
- Preparation of urban design framework setting out an overall Masterplan for the campus, an urban design strategy to inform future building, landscape, access and public realm investments and sustainability appraisal
Results:
- Extended University campus policy designation in the Local Plan
- Local Plan Inspector support for campus improvement, additional development and green belt expansion
- Planning strategy and draft campus masterplan agreed for the submission of an outline planning application by summer 2008
