CAMPUS MASTERPLAN
Advice on planning strategy for updating the 10 year development plan for the University of Warwick including significant development in the Green Belt on the outskirts of Coventry.
Turley Associates’ Role:
- Advice on representations to development plans and Regional Spatial Strategy
- Advice to masterplan architects on preparation of University Development Plan
- Direct professional access instructions to counsel to advise on Green Belt issues
- Establishment of steering group with local authorities and regional agencies, including sub-groups on design and transport
- Co-ordination of consultant team to prepare submission of outline planning application for 170,000 sq m (1,829,865 sq ft) of development
- Advice on and participation in pre-application consultation and community engagement
Results:
- Draft University Development Plan approved by the University
- High level and widespread support for University proposals following extensive stakeholder engagement over three years
- Planning Strategy agreed for outline planning application and submitted in August 2007
- Application approved by Coventry and Warwick District Councils and awaiting decision from Government Office for the West Midlands
