Creative Sheffield has announced plans for a Northern super-city to counterbalance London through its Economic Masterplan.

The UK’s first City Development Company (CDC) suggests working with local rivals Leeds and Manchester to create a three-cornered “super-city” with dovetailed economies.

The Economic Masterplan analyses the current state of the Sheffield economy. It recognises the developments in recent years, and makes a case that continuing with the status quo is not a realistic option for the City.

Creative Sheffield will produce an annual report on performance against this plan, both to Sheffield City Council and to the City as a whole.
