NEWSBURA Univer-Cities Conference, Sheffield, September 2007
Turley Associates jointly sponsored BURA’s recent Univer-Cities conference. It was held at Pond's Forge in Sheffield and well attended by a range of property professionals and members of AUDE (Association of University Directors of Estates). The event was chaired by Bill Kirk, Chief Exec of ILEX, the URC for Londonderry.
The conference focused on the economic and regenerative effects of university development. Presentations were given on a diverse range of topics, including the impact of spin-off research, building procurement routes, facilities management, funding streams, science cities, sustainable development and student housing.
Mike Best, Director at Turley Associates addressed the audience on some of the planning issues facing university development and illustrated his presentation with examples of some of Turley Associates work in the education sector. Richard Baxter, Director, appeared on the expert panel and contributed to the debate between speakers.
