NEWSRob Turley steps down after 25 years
Rob has been instrumental in the establishment and development of the practice which is now a leading planning and urban design consultancy with 225 employees and nine offices across Britain.
Rob Lucas, who has shared leadership with Rob Turley and operated as MD since 2002, will become Chief Executive.
Turley Associates has also made new appointments. Michael Lowndes, currently national head of urban design and masterplanning joins the Board, Liz Peace CBE joins as a non executive director and Robert Hough becomes chairman of the company. Gary Forster and Roger Lane-Smith continue as Board directors.
Rob Turley, Chairman, said: “I am proud of what we have achieved over the last 25 years. I have had the opportunity and privilege to work with many talented people in growing the practice and I will of course miss them. However, we have been looking carefully at succession and come to the view that now is the right time to make some changes.
The company has an excellent reputation and very able leadership teams such that our strength in depth means that we can provide a quality service to our clients and gives me great confidence for the future. I particularly welcome Mike and Liz to the Board both of whom will bring another dimension to the senior team.
For my part, I am looking forward to a new role outside of mainstream planning consultancy which will allow me to use my time and skills together with the business experience I have accumulated in pursuing some other interests which I am passionate about, including work within the Christian community and development of my local community football club.
I am grateful to all my colleagues past and present, and to our clients who have given so much support to the business. I am confident that the leadership of the company and our offices will continue to build on the work they have been doing over the last ten years or so and take the practice on to another stage in its development. I will watch with interest and support.”

We have grown to 225 and now have distinctive teams of planners and urban designers in all our offices. We must thank Rob for his influential contribution and hard work and wish him the very best in his new direction.”
