NEWSUnlisted and listed building consent granted for Former Central Laundry Site, Swindon
Turley Associates has secured planning permission (29 April 08) for the demolition of the unlisted buildings on the Former Central Laundry Site in Swindon. In addition, permission was granted for the refurbishment of the Grade II listed buildings for Class A1, A2, A3 or B1 use, and the erection of 66 apartments within an iconic new extension to the buildings.
A significant reduction in the usual level of affordable housing sought (30% down to only 5%) was secured on the basis of a £700,000 speculative investment in the refurbishment of the listed buildings. Other issues included effect on the setting of an adjoining Grade II listed hotel and adjoining residential properties.
