Titanic Quarter named Northern Ireland Commercial Development of the Year

One of Belfast's most iconic developments has been awarded the accolade of Commercial Development of the Year by trade magazine Property Week.

The Titanic Quarter, a project which Turley Associates is proud to be planning consultant for, was commended for its ongoing contribution to transforming Belfast with respect to conservation, urban design and cultural diversity.

The award was presented at Property Week's Irish Property Awards - a highly anticipated annual event celebrating the finest performers in the market.

Chairman of Turley Associates, Rob Turley, said: "We are absolutely delighted by this award. Titanic Quarter is a major new city centre urban quarter which is acting as a catalyst for the renewal of Belfast. The range and mix of facilities that the development will bring will be transformational and we are extremely proud to have played a fundamental and pivotal role in its success to date."

Turley Associates worked closely with Harcourt Developments and landowner Belfast Harbour Commissioners in the initial Vision of Titanic Quarter as a new city centre urban quarter and establishing key development principles and revisions to planning policy to enable the creation of a flexible development framework and area masterplan.

This enabled planning permission to be granted for several phases of new development including Phase 1 which incorporated 475 apartments, hotels and leisure facilities where construction and is now well advanced. Phase 2 will bring 2,000 dwellings including affordable housing and live/work units, 37,000 sq m, 5,000 sq m of offices, 23,000 sq m of leisure, 11,300 sq m of tourism related development, renewal of the scheduled historic monuments including docks and slipways, and 3,500 parking spaces mainly in basements.
