Ensuring development viability
We provide commercial viability advice that can support our clients' interests.
Understanding development viability is increasingly important in promoting land for development. We provide commercial viability advice that can support our clients’ interests by:
- Evaluating the impact of Section 106 Agreements, other planning requirements on the deliverability of developments
- Assessing the realism of CIL charging schedules
- Demonstrating that a site is deliverable – as required by the NPPF – for inclusion within a Development Plan
- Testing the viability of competing sites that are relied upon as part of a land supply – for example within a SHLAA or a site allocations DPD.
Our economic planning team provides robust economic viability advice to both private sector and public sector clients. Our capabilities include:
- Site or scheme viability assessment – testing and ensuring deliverability
- Affordable Housing viability assessment and Section 106 negotiation
- CIL representations, viability assessment (preparation and critique) and expert witness
- Employment land assessment.
