Fortune Green Road

London

We provided planning and urban design advice to support the residential led, mixed use and award winning landmark scheme on a sensitive and challenging urban site.

Location: London
Status:
Development completed
Size: 50 private residential units, 22 affordable housing units, 195 units per hectare, 5 Retail and restaurant units
Scale: Site

From the outset, we determined that a thorough assessment of the townscape character and constraints was required to support a challenging density on this sensitive site.

The appraisal of the site and surroundings focused on visual impact, morphology, infrastructure, urban form, scale, character, land use and historical research of area.

Despite the reasoned justification of the design and identification of the opportunities for change, the application was turned down at the local level.

We appealed the Council's decision and gave expert evidence at the resulting public inquiry. The Inspector agreed with our case and planning permission was granted. We were subsequently appointed to oversee and handle all planning matters arising during the construction phase.

The building designed by CZWG has received the Evening Standard residential building of the year award 2010.
